Three Quick and Easy Tips for Healthy Living in Your Apartment

For better health, you can join a gym, visit the doctor regularly, or consult with a nutritionist. But all those strategies take time that you may not have, and, at the very least, require that you step outside your home. Fortunately, you can also live a healthier lifestyle in your apartment by following these quick and easy tips.

1.      Put a magnetic mirror on your refrigerator door. You can buy this mirror at many home centers, school supply outlets, or big box stores. Mount it slightly above waist height so that before your open the fridge, you get a good view of your middle torso. Do you like what you see? If the reflection shows a fit and healthy body, then go ahead and get that slice of pie you wanted. On the other hand, a less-than-desirable image may just prompt you to reach for a carrot instead of a cake, or grab a cold glass of water instead of a beer. As a bonus, if your shopping list is near the mirror, you can start writing down healthier choices to buy like more vegetables and fruits, instead of Twinkies and frozen french fries.

2.      Dust in the forgotten places. It’s easy enough to clean tabletops, counters, and chairs because dirt on their surfaces are visible. But, if you’re still suffering from watery eyes and a runny nose, dust in the invisible spaces of your apartment may be causing your allergic reactions. Be sure to clean on the top of ceiling fans, on the top frames of windows and doors, and on the tops of high shelves and cabinet doors.

3.      Sleep away from your electronics. Your bed is where you escape from the stresses of the workday and recharge your body with a good night’s sleep. That won’t happen if you use your mattress to watch TV, catch up on work with your laptop, and check on email from your smartphone. Move all these distractions outside your bedroom so you can finally get that good night’s sleep you’ve been wanting.
